Township of Alberton

Welcome to Alberton!

The Hon. Greg Rickford; pays a visit to Alberton!

On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, the Township of Alberton was honoured by a visit and a highly anticipated announcement from the Honourable Greg Rickford; Minister of Northern Development and MPP for Kenora- Rainy River.

The Township of Alberton is the proud recipient of a $500,000 grant provided by the NOHFC, to extend the winter skating season by adding a roof over Alberton’s Millennium Rink.

“Since modernizing the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) program, our government has invested in more municipal infrastructure, tourism and recreation, and business expansion projects in the North than ever before,” said Greg Rickford, Minister of Northern Development and Member of Provincial Parliament for Kenora-Rainy River. “We recognize that the targeted investments we make have a lasting impact on local economic development, as well as the families and community members in our region.”

The Township of Alberton was one of five recipients selected for funding by the NOHFC.

“The Township of Alberton is very grateful for the NOHFC’s generous support for this project. The new roof will enhance year-round enjoyment of the facilities for everyone. The Millennium Park is such an important asset to our community and the roof will provide enjoyment and opportunity for years to come.” – Mayor Mike Ford, Township of Alberton.

SKATING RINK CLOSED

Due to the mild weather, ice conditions have deteriorated, and we have closed the rink until further notice.

A very gracious Thank You to the Alberton Recreation Committee, the Alberton Volunteer Fire Department, and all volunteers, for their participation in the Family Fun Day event held on Monday, February 19th, 2024. Special thanks to Dr. Dan Pierroz for providing the coffee and hot chocolate. The event was very well attended, and many thanks were received throughout the day and afterward.
